JONES JONES 2022 EUROPEAN TOUR BEGINS MARCH 31 in Munich!
January 5th, 2022 is the date this item is being written, deep in the heart of Lord Omicron’s Era. So we feel the need to say: Lord Omicron permitting, it is very exciting to announce that Jones Jones – featuring the magnificent bassist Mark Dresser, master percussionist Vladimir Tarasov, and the searing saxophone sounds of Larry Ochs – will make its twice postponed appearance on April 9, 2022 at Freejazzfestivaal Saarbrücken. This engagement is supported by Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation through USArtists International in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Yes, Omicron’s deadly partner Delta forced festival postponements in 2020 and 2021. But thanks to SCIENCE, it seems right now like the 2022 festival will take place in April for the first time since 2019. (The festival did take place last October, 2021, in order to be able to celebrate Peter Brotzmann’s 80th birthday in his 80th birth year. Scheduling conflicts did not allow for Jones Jones to appear at that time. Thus 2022.) So for now, Jones Jones thanks Mid Atlantic Arts not only for the festival support, but also for informing us of that support 9 months in advance of the festival. This allowed us to set up an 11-city tour around the festival date, and also to schedule a March 2022 CD release of Jones Jones first studio recording.

The newest and we think Jones Jones’ best recording, sonically speaking, releases on ESP-Disk’ in March 2022, specifically to accompany the trio on this European tour. It is entitled Just Justice, with beautiful art-work by artist Roberto Harrison. Recorded on January 16, 2020 on the UC San Diego campus in the classic, spacious ‘Studio B’. Watch for this release in March at the ESP-Disk’ and Larry Ochs sites on BandCamp.
